Higbee & Associates, Inc. is a full service safety consulting firm offering complete in house and off site services. We have experienced consultants available who can serve almost any need. If you take a quick look at our partial client list you will see manufacturing, construction, electrical generation, pharmaceuticals, petrochemical, mining, farming, milling and more industries represented.

Most of our consultants are individuals with 20 plus years of experience in their area of expertise. It is impossible to list all the consulting services we provide so a sampling of our consulting services is listed below. We provide Mock OSHA compliance inspections on a one time or continual basis. In addition we will conduct those required weekly or monthly inspection and provide required documentation.

We evaluate your existing written programs/procedures and on-site evaluations of actual work practices. When we leave you have a numerical grade for each written program and another for actual worksite performance. A final report is issued and reviewed with your staff that identifies deficiencies, corrective action, prioritizes the corrective action and instruction to your staff so they can continue with annual audits that are graded consistently. This provides you with a simple, accurate and effective continuous improvement process.

We provide expert witness services on OSHA regulatory issues assist in preparation of interrogatories and assist in citation resolution.

We will place a full or part-time safety professional on a construction or demolition site to monitor contractor and sub-contractor safety performance, recommend corrective action when required and assure the different contractors are coordinating work in a way that maintains a safe worksite.

This service is for organizations other than manufacturing, industrial or construction. This risk assessment process is designed for facilities like Hospitals, Long-term Care, Elderly Housing, Hotels, Office Complexes, Schools, Colleges, Universities, Ski Resorts, Golf Courses, Restaurants, and Amusement Parks etc. We look at area of concern that include but is not limited to: Security, Hostile Intruder, Fire Prevention, Flood Control, Emergency Evacuation Process, Crime in Progress Procedures, Bomb Threat, Lighting, Traffic Control, Loading Docks, Walking Surfaces, Signage, Housekeeping, Hygiene, Food Service, Maintenance etc.

We can actually make the assessment, write each JHA and review them with your employees. We can also teach your staff how to perform the same activities.

Creation of lockout instructions for placement at machines and lockout devices to comply with OSHA lockout / tagout regulations (29 CFR 1910.147).

We will evaluate the guarding on your equipment and recommend improvements when needed.

We are able to temporarily staff you safety positions (safety director, coordinator etc.) until a replacement can be hired. We will also provide additional temporary safety staff during short term projects. Long term and semi-permanent coverage can also be provided by contractual agreement.

The institute focuses on developing advanced safety auditing and management skills. Certifications are currently offered for the following classifications:

Those who attain a certification will have completed the required educational, testing and demonstration of the necessary skills associated with the certification. The certification is for three years and requires continuing education to retain the certification.
